What does the job entail?

The position is with a company called Vaped, an e-commerce site that sells vaporizers and believes that “vaporizing is the best way to consume dry herb.” But before they feature a vaporizer on the site, a member of the Vaped team first tests and reviews each one—and it has gotten to the point where they need someone else to take on that task.

That’s where this job comes in. The successful applicant will receive their vaporizers for free, test their capabilities, and, according to the job description, provide input on:

Analysis on the functionality of the vaporizer (ex. size, vapor production, temperatures etc.)

Product testing (ex. how long does battery last)

Instructions of use

How to clean and maintain the vaporizer

Comparisons to other similar units

Your personal feelings about the vaporizer

A video, write up and photography of each vaporizer

What are the perks of the job?

In addition to the $42,000 salary and a ton of free vaporizers, benefits include three weeks of paid vacation, the ability to work remotely and set your own hours, and a $250/month “expense account.” Cough.

So what, exactly, does that expense account cover? In an email to Lifehacker, Vaped’s founder and CEO Christian Sculthorp explains that the vaporizers they sell are designed for use with a “vapable herb” of any kind.

“We expressly don’t recommend nicotine, but as well as marijuana, other ‘dry herbs’, such as potpourri, lavender, and camomile all are appropriate for use with our products,” he says, noting that purchasing marijuana products depends on its legality in your state.

While Sculthorp says that the vaporizers themselves (as in, the devices) are legal throughout the United States, testers should only use the expense budget for marijuana if they are in a state in which the smoking of marijuana is legal, or if they have the appropriate medical marijuana license as dictated by the laws of their state.

“We just need to see vapor come out of the vaporizers for testing purposes; the exact type of herb that is vaped is up to them,” he tells Lifehacker.
