Gaylord Palms Announces The Polar Express as Theme for ICE! 2019 Season

It may only be July, but you can JUUUUUUST start to smell a tiny little bit Christmas in the air. The 2019 Hallmark ornaments have just gone on sale. QVC just had their Christmas In July event. And earlier this week, the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, FL announced their theme for the 2019 season of ICE!, their annual indoor winter wonderland…THE POLAR EXPRESS!

The Gaylord brand of hotels is part of the Marriott family. From The Gaylord Palms’ website:

ICE! is back at Gaylord Palms with an all-new theme featuring THE POLAR EXPRESS™. Take a journey of imagination through this heart-warming story as a young child embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole while learning about friendship, bravery and the true spirit of Christmas. Experience this adventure through hand-carved sculptures and displays made from more than 2 million pounds of ice.

Know Before You Go: ICE! is an indoor winter wonderland kept at a chilly 9 degrees featuring:

“From the moment you walk in, when the Polar Express shows up at the house, to the hot chocolate scene, all the way to Glacier Gorge, when the train is rushing down the side of the mountain … and then you’re at the North Pole — so you get to see a lot of it as you go through of it,” said Niko Nickolaou, director of special events and entertainment.

For the uninitiated: The Polar Express is a 2004 American 3D computer-animated adventure film based on the 1985 children’s book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg, who also served as one of the executive producers on the film. Co-written, co-produced and directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film features human characters animated using live action motion capture animation. The film tells the story of a young boy who, on Christmas Eve, sees a mysterious train bound for the North Pole stop outside his window and is invited aboard by its conductor. The boy joins several other children as they embark on a journey to visit Santa Claus preparing for Christmas. The film stars Tom Hanks, who was also one of the film’s executive producers, in six distinct roles, with Daryl Sabara, Nona Gaye, Jimmy Bennett and Eddie Deezen in supporting roles. The film also includes a performance by Tinashe at age 9, as the CGI model for the female protagonist.
