Here are some of the best-selling items on Amazon Prime Day from around the world

Consumers seemed to think it was a prime time to shop.

On Monday and Tuesday, Amazon AMZ, -1.08%  celebrated Prime Day — a two-day sales event — and millions of consumers were enticed by the deals. Indeed, Prime members snapped up upwards of 175 million items during the sale period, Amazon announced Wednesday. (Other retailers like Walmart WMT, -0.22%  and Target TGT, -0.54% were big winners too, as MarketWatch reported: “Large retailers, classified as those with $1 billion-plus in annual revenue, experienced a 64% spike in sales versus an average Monday, up from 54% last year.)

Among the biggest standouts on Prime Day for Amazon were sales of its own devices. Amazon called Prime Day “the biggest event ever for Amazon devices” -— noting that top-selling deals worldwide were the Echo Dot smart speaker; and both the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote streaming device, and Fire TV Stick 4K with Alexa Voice Remote.

That shouldn’t surprise consumers as Amazon traditionally deeply discounts its own devices on Prime Day: “Amazon’s proprietary devices are the bread and butter of Prime Day,” Kristin McGrath, shopping expert and editor for Offers.com, says. Other top-selling items included smart home devices like the iRobot Roomba 690 Robot Vacuum, MyQ Smart Garage Door Opener Chamberlain MYQ-G0301, and Amazon Smart Plug.

But perhaps the most interesting data to come out of Prime Day were some of the best-selling items in each country, excluding Amazon devices. These items which varied widely by country, though there were some similarities. In both the United States and Canada, the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter and the 23andMe Health + Ancestry kits made the best-sellers list, for example; and in a handful of countries vacuums, diapers and gaming consoles made the cut.
