Bookings open for Sweden's floating Arctic Bath hotel and spa

A hotly-anticipated floating hotel in Swedish Lapland that offers views of the Northern Lights is now taking bookings.   

The Arctic Bath is a year-round spa hotel, which floats atop the Lule river in summer and freezes into place come wintertime. 

Its star attraction is the bath, which sits in the centre of its circular complex - heated to a 'refreshing' four-degrees, for those partial to an icy dip.  

Those less brave can simply lounge around the deck and gaze up in search of the Northern Lights, or find warmth in the accompanying spa and saunas.

Visitors can stay overnight in one of the six minimalist cabins dotted around the perimeter, which will either float individually or stand still depending on the season. There are also six cabins on land. 

The hotel design is inspired by the timber floating era, where 'trees felled in local forests were transported down the river to be processed'.  

It has been created with the 'highest environmental standards in mind', using local materials and with a 'minimal, to no impact' on the environment.

Bookings are available between February 2020 and February 2021. Rooms start from £815.

The hotel is also offering a three-day stay for £2,595 per person with accommodation in a floating cabin, breakfast daily, a nightly five-course dinner, a guided Northern Lights hunt, transfers and spa access.
