Apple’s next-gen M4 Macs and iPad mini 7 are almost here - 2 minutes read
Apple’s next-gen M4 Macs will reportedly arrive November 1, rather than in October as is generally expected. A few days before that, the company supposedly plans to release iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence support.
The new Macs that will debut include M4 MacBook Pros, Mac mini, and an iMac.
M4 Macs and iPad mini 7 could go official soon
Apple unveiled its new M4 chip with the 2024 iPad Pro in May this year, just seven months after the release of M3 Macs. The new chip focuses on AI performance and improved efficiency to deliver longer battery life.
In the latest Power On edition, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman claims Apple will release its new M4-powered Macs on November 1. These include a new low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 chip and high-end versions of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro featuring M4 Pro and Max.
M4 iMac and a revamped Mac mini with a smaller design should also launch on November 1. A new iPad mini with a faster chip will supposedly debut alongside the M4 Macs.
If true, it’s a surprising scheduling decision. Nov. 1 is a Friday, while Apple generally launches products earlier in the week. That said, Gurman also said they’ll debut “around the end of October,” so the launch could be earlier.
Gurman also reports that Apple will release iOS 18.1 with Apple Intelligence support on the Monday before. So, the company might officially unveil its new Macs on the same day, presumably via a press release.
More new M4 Macs coming in H1 2025
Following the launch of the new M4 MacBook Pros and Mac mini, Apple plans to unveil the M4 MacBook Air in H1 2025.
A refreshed new iPhone SE and upgraded iPad Air models are also in the pipeline. The new iPads will seemingly launch alongside updated Magic Keyboards. Lastly, Apple plans to unveil an updated AirTag in the first half of 2025.
More powerful M4 Macs, like the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, are in development, too, though they will arrive later in the year. Gurman expects the Mac Studio to arrive in mid-2025, with the Mac Pro coming later in the year.
