An update to the Wearable Devices Mudra Band for Apple Watch brings enhanced same-hand, touchless gesture control and task management for users even in older models of the device, the company said Monday. The artificial intelligence-powered functionality complements the band’s existing solutions for iPhone, iPad and other Apple products, it added.
“One of our initial goals with the Mudra Band has been to provide our users with same-hand touchless watch operation, and we are pleased to cater to multiple requests by our customers,” said Asher Dahan, CEO of Wearable Devices. “This is a step forward in AI-based wearable technology, pushing the boundaries of what wearable technology can offer.”
Wearable Devices Mudra Band: Hands-free control
Wearable Devices said it designed Mudra Band’s new feature set to revolutionize how users interact with their Apple Watches, offering quick, hands-free control for common tasks. And the high-tech band should really help out older Apple Watch models that don’t support some of the newer gesture controls, such as the double tap feature.
With the Mudra Band’s Apple Watch gesture control, the company said users can now:
Navigate the interface using intuitive gestures.
Pause music, stop timers and answer calls without touching the screen.
Operate the watch even when their fingers are occupied or unable to touch the screen.
How does it work?
The Mudra Band uses advanced fingertip pressure-measurement technology, allowing for more relaxed and subtle finger movements, Wearable Devices said. The new gesture control feature enhances Apple Watch functionality, particularly in terms of accessibility and convenience. It allows for on-the-go and multi-tasking watch operation without the need to pause, stare at the screen or use the other hand.
Users can control their watch by:
Pinching their index finger with their thumb.
Quickly flicking their wrist to navigate.
Tapping or double-tapping to select an element or go back.
