Severance‘s First Season 2 Teaser Welcomes You Back to Work - 3 minutes read
The first teaser for Severance season two is disorienting, befuddling, and explains next to nothing about what’s to come—which is exactly what we want to see in any and all marketing for Apple TV+’s outstanding workplace thriller. With new episodes finally arriving January 17, we’re just fine only getting a tiny glimpse of Adam Scott’s Mark Scout roaming the blue and white hallways of Lumon Industries. And, what’s this… a new name? New co-workers?
Set in a dystopian world—mostly within an especially dystopian office complex—Severance imagines a company that performs a procedure on most of its employees, making it so their memories are completely split between their work and home lives. In season one, a handful of workers become curious about what Lumon Industries actually does, and about what’s happening in their real-world lives. The cliffhanger left us hangin just as they’d hacked into the technology that divides their “innie” and “outie” minds and made some shocking discoveries about themselves—only for the hack to be abruptly, heartbreakingly reversed.
Here’s the official description for the show, which is directed and executive produced by Ben Stiller, and created, written, and executive produced by Dan Erickson: “In Severance, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in ‘work-life balance’ is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself. In season two, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.”
Along with Scott and, as seen in the teaser, Tramell Tillman, Severance‘s returning cast includes Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, and Christopher Walken, with Sarah Bock joining as a series regular for season two. New cast members, some of whom pop up above, include Gwendoline Christie, Merritt Wever, John Noble, Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, Robby Benson, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and more.
Severance season two will run 10 episodes; it’ll debut globally on Apple TV+ Friday, January 17, 2025 with new episodes every Friday through March 21.
