Sonic the Hedgehog 3‘s Trailer Is Finally Here - 2 minutes read

Paramount Pictures has finally unveiled a new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which stars action hero darling Keanu Reeves as the fan-favorite Shadow the Hedgehog.

Obviously, one John Wick—regardless of how cleverly convenient Reeves’ “foreshadowed” casting was—does not a movie make. Joining Reeves in the blue blur threequel is Jessica Jones‘ Krysten Ritter, Ted Lasso‘s Cristo Fernández, Lonely Island’s Jorma Taccone, Furiosa‘s Alyla Browne, Harley Quinn‘s James Wolk, and Jane the Virgin‘s Sofia Pernas. Sonic 3 will also see the un-retirement of Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik; Ben Schwartz will return as the title character.

Although Sonic 3 has long been rumored to be on the horizon, today marks the first time in a long time that fans received a crumb of movie news since Paramount Pictures dropped a Sonic Adventure 2 throwback teaser logo trailer back in February. Outside of obsessing over a sneak peek at Shadow’s shoes and balled fist, fans have had to satiate themselves with a grainy photo of Shadow from a popcorn bucket.  As you might imagine, the Sonic fandom feels like they just took a deep breath after emerging from a pool.

Paramount Pictures is keyed in on how hype fans are to see Shadow because it spared no expense in advertising his and Sonic’s visage on various skyscrapers worldwide to promote the film’s trailer release. Now, all that’s left is for marketing to lean in on the whole Shadow Wick premise by sprinkling targeted advertisements about a certain blonde-haired girl’s fate. If you know, you know. While you contemplate that, here’s a new poster featuring Sonic and Shadow getting ready to duke it out.
