London footwear label Stepney Workers Club has united with Delhi-based menswear imprint Kartik Research to produce a capsule celebrating their shared love for cricket. The line, which includes ready-to-wear and footwear, is galvanized by the bat-and-ball sport’s culture.
The collaboration includes a standalone running shoe, which reworks Stepney’s staple Amiel S-Strike with cricket-inspired tones and Kartik Research’s classic vintage Kantha quilting textiles. The tongue features colorful embroidery with asymmetrical iconography, and the back heel houses mirror circles, a Kartik Research signature.
In apparel, the duo has cooked up four code-fusing silhouettes. Among them, the varsity jacket, made from the aforementioned Kantha fabric, boasts ecru arms and a red torso, nodding to the key hues of cricket. Notably, the design’s front panels don Western mirror detailing, as well as hand-embroidered “Kartik” and “Handshake” signage.
Down the line, the collection includes a cotton handloom training top, built with naturally dyed fabric sourced from Bengal, and track pants, flaunting co-branded embroidery and rows of mirrors down the leg. Rounding out the range, the chore coat, composed of cotton ecru denim, is custom-made on a handloom in Himachal Pradesh, India.
The Stepney Workers Club x Kartik Research collection will launch on Thursday, March 21, via the brands’ webstores and select retailers. Prices range from €50 EUR to €600 EUR. See the line in the gallery above.
