American businessman Todd Boehly considering bid for Spurs or Chelsea
American businessman Todd Boehly, who owns a 20 per cent stake in the Los Angeles Dodgers, is reportedly considering a bid for Tottenham or Chelsea.
Both Spurs and Chelsea have well-known owners in football.
Roman Abramovich has been pivotal in Chelsea’s recent history, bankrolling several big-money signings.
As a result, the Blues are now one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
While Tottenham’s Daniel Levy isn’t known for splashing the cash in the transfer market, he’s been equally important for Spurs.
Not only has he delivered a state of the art stadium, but his smart business has also resulted in Spurs having a team capable of competing in the Champions League.
Though, one of Levy or Abramovich could be set to depart their respective club.
That’s because according to the Standard, American businessman Todd Boehly is considering a bid for one of Chelsea or Tottenham.
Boehly currently owns a 20 per cent stake in the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.
Now, he’s exploring the possibility of investing in a Premier League club.
According to their report, ‘Boehly is interested in investing in the Premier League and sources in the United States believe he is currently favouring Spurs.’
Despite Boehly’s intentions, it’s not been determined whether Levy or Abramovich would be willing to sell.
The Standard’s report continues: ‘It remains to be seen whether Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis — partners in the investment company ENIC International Ltd, which owns 85.55 per cent of the club — or Roman Abramovich would be willing to sell should they receive an offer.’
