It may be the NBA’s offseason, but with free agency set to start at the end of the month the basketball world’s rumor mill is reaching a crescendo, and one of the most oft-discussed superstars who could shift the league’s balance of power is Kyrie Irving. Although we may not yet know where the point guard will wind up next season, it’s business as usual for his signature Nike Kyrie 5, which is set to debut in a new makeup that features rainbow soles. The design belies its light-hearted nature by staying all business up top, with a tonal flat black upper that features glossy black trim around the ridges of the Venus flytrap-inspired lacing system for a touch of material difference. A grey plastic hit appears around the forefoot’s Zoom Air unit, and the shoe’s deep-of-night stylings are continued on the midsole. However, the outsole is awash in color, with the oblong traction pods featuring vibrant pink, green, yellow, orange, and red hits for a plentiful-if-partially-concealed helping of unique detailing. Signature Kyrie branding on the insoles in volt green completes the look. You can expect these new Nike shoes to release on July 1st for $130, so check a store list below to see where you can secure a pair, and be sure to stay tuned to see where Kyrie signs — this colorway would certainly match nicely with a Brooklyn Nets jersey.
