Answer:
Your Ask the Experts question was answered by Brian Pace. Coach Pace is National Level Table Tennis Coach with Dynamic Table Tennis and his response is as follows:
Dr. Menghani,
Thank you for your question, and applaud your choice to do a complete Butterfly upgrade to your current equipment. I will do my best to give you a proper upgrade that will elevate your game.
Blade Choice: Revoldia
The reason that I recommend this blade is because it is a wood blade, but a total upgrade to the type of Yasaka Wood that you are currently using. The Revoldia has 2 layers of CNF, which is Cellulose Nanofiber, and it has the characteristics of the carbon when you are making attack shots, but has the characteristics of wood on all touch shots on and off the table. This represents the blade upgrade that is a natural transition for your attacking style on both sides.
Forehand Rubber Choice: Tenergy 05FX
All the Tenergy line of rubbers, Tenergy has the sharpest and short trajectory, and this is what I would suggest for your forehand since you have an aggressive attacking style. Coupled with the Revoldia which is a faster blade, the Tenergy 05FX on your backhand will allow you counterattacks to land in the middle of the table safely, which will make it easier for you to attempt these shots without feeling like it has high risk.
Backhand Rubber Choice: Tenergy 05
The reason that this is my choice for the backhand is with your counterattacking style this rubber will allow your attack shot to still land on the table. The Tenergy 05 is slight more dense than the 05FX, and with the backhand being played in front of you it is a perfect choice to be able land a low trajectory attack that will be sharp in it’s angle.
The ultimate goal is for you to have a set-up that is an upgrade in every way, which allow your technique and shot selection to evolve naturally.
Good Luck with your training and improvement!
Brian
