Triangle Club Hosted Ping Pong Diplomacy Celebration Tournament - 2 minutes read

The Ping Pong Diplomacy Celebration Tournament was held last week in the prestigious Triangle Badminton and Table Tennis Club. The event is in honor of the 50th anniversary of US/China Ping Pong Diplomacy. Players competed in eight events including U800, U1150, U1450, U1650, U1850, U2150, RR Open and 2-Person Teams.
For the Open RR event, third seeded Rachid El Boubou was dominant from the start, going 3-0 in the group the groups, then winning his Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches 3-0. He went on to defeat top seeded AJ Carney in the Final 3-2 (8, -8, 8, -8, 8). The other Semifinalsts were Shivanand Goud and Stephanie Sun – Goud fell to Carney and Sun fell to El Boubou.
Later AJ got his revenge together with Stephanie Sun in the 2-Person Team Event beating Rachid El Boubou and Roman Potapov.
