How to Secretly Monitor a Computer Screen - 3 minutes read
Since the covid situation began, many parents have been faced with the challenge that children tend to look at Facebook, YouTube or other popular sites during home schooling, instead of following their teacher's instructions. Parents don't always want to take complete control of their home PC by installing spy software because they feel it will be an invasion of their children's privacy.
Companies are also asking themselves how they can better monitor employees working from home without collecting all the information the employee accesses.
It's not a good idea to simply monitor everything that a user does on the computer. It would be better to be able to take a discreet look at the PC screen from time to time. Fortunately, that is very easy to do.
There is a program that allows you to see the PC screen in real-time as if you were sitting in front of the computer yourself. It works discreetly, without the user having to consent to screen sharing.
The software is called Wolfeye Remote Screen and runs in the background. You can then see the live screen of the computer via any browser (i.e., remotely, so to speak) as if you were in front of the PC:
This is how it works:
There are 4 steps to setting up Wolfeye Remote Screen:
1. Before Downloading
Before you download the program, select the download folder and enter it into the exception list of your anti-virus program. The reason you must do this is that Wolfeye Remote Screen is surveillance software - so it works like a hacking tool. Your anti-virus program would, therefore, view the application as "suspicious".
It will be enough to just put the folder into which you will copy the application in the exception list because it only operates within that folder and does not copy anything anywhere else.
When choosing your folder, it's important that you choose a folder to which every PC user has write access so that any user can be monitored with the application.
You can create a folder and give it an unidentifiable name, into which you will download the Wolfeye Remote Screen program. You will then add that folder to your anti-virus exception list. Watch this video to see how to add the folder to your exception list. [https://youtu.be/5TLIL9kVhDw]
2. Download the Program
The program comes packed in a zip file; download the program directly into your prepared folder.
3. Extract the zip file
Extract/unzip the program (right-click > extract all). The password for unpacking the zip file is: wolfeye. Now you can start the software. The control window will open.
4. Set up Wolfeye Remote Screen
"Share Screen" - Click the "Share Screen" button to share the screen or start recording.
"Open URL" - "Email URL" - Click the "Open URL" button to open the URL link that will allow you to see the live computer screen in the browser. The screen is updated every 3-5 seconds. You can send this link to your email using the "Email URL" button so that you can see the live screen from another PC.
"Hide + Win Startup" - Press the "Hide + Win Startup" key if you want to hide Wolfeye. The software will continue to run and you will continue to see the live PC screen without the user noticing.
In addition, the software starts in the background when Windows starts.
